New York heads to Motor City for a Wednesday night Eastern Conference game, and Grails Miami has the room set for it. Miami carries a deep New York transplant community, and the Knicks travel well on screens down here. Detroit brings its own blue-collar basketball identity. Two old-school Eastern markets, one tip-off, and a Wynwood bar with every angle covered.

The Knicks come out of the Atlantic Division and the Pistons out of the Central, so this is a cross-division Eastern Conference game with conference seeding stakes attached. Little Caesars Arena in downtown Detroit hosts. Both franchises built their reputations on physical, defense-first basketball, from the Bad Boys Pistons title runs of the late 1980s and the 2004 championship to the bruising Knicks teams of the 1990s and the Garden championships of the early 1970s. A midweek game between two cities that like their basketball tough.

Spacious. Vibrant. Pure Miami. The covered Miami Vice patio seats up to 120 across multiple table configurations and has its own patio bar, with TVs angled for visibility from every seat. The Yard sits adjacent under a giant tent with a projector screen for the major game. Hookah service runs all evening on the patio.

The color palette pulls straight from Miami Vice: pinks, teals, neon accents. The patio walls flow with rotating mural work that fits Wynwood’s art-district vibe.

Yes, you really do drink it from a Jordan-inspired sneaker. The Grails sneaker cocktail is our most-photographed creation, equal parts conversation piece and craft cocktail. It’s been featured in local press, racked up millions of Instagram impressions, and is now a Wynwood rite of passage.

Rails Sports Bar was the highlight of our whole trip to Miami. Great atmosphere, plenty of screens, and the kind of energy you want from a sports bar. We had such a great experience, and a huge part of that was our server, Austin! He was genuinely one of the best servers I’ve had in a long time. He was incredibly attentive super kind, personable, and so easy to talk to. He checked in at all the right times, made sure we had everything we needed, and just had such a great energy throughout the entire experience. It’s rare to have a server who makes you feel like they actually care that you’re having a good time, and Austin absolutely did. He made us feel so welcome and turned an already fun outing into an even better one. Truly 12/10 service. I’ll absolutely be back — especially to watch sports — and will definitely be asking for Austin again!
