Orange Blossom Classic: South Carolina State Bulldogs vs Florida A&M Rattlers

The Orange Blossom Classic is a South Florida institution. First played in 1933 and returned to Miami Gardens in 2021, it turns Labor Day weekend into an HBCU homecoming, with alumni, families and band fans traveling in to fill Hard Rock Stadium. Grails Miami sits about 25 minutes south of the stadium in Wynwood, and the patio is the room for everyone taking in the Classic on a screen instead of from the stands.

This edition of the Classic puts South Carolina State, the MEAC program out of Orangeburg, against Florida A&M, the SWAC program based in Tallahassee, in a season-opening showcase that has always doubled as a cultural event. The Orange Blossom Classic has never been only about four quarters of football. The halftime band showcase carries as much weight as the scoreboard, and two traveling alumni sections turn a neutral-site kickoff into a pair of homecomings at once. Early September in Miami Gardens also means heat and humidity shaping the second half.

El Orange Blossom Classic es una tradición del sur de la Florida. Se jugó por primera vez en 1933 y regresó a Miami Gardens en 2021, convirtiendo el fin de semana del Labor Day en un homecoming de las universidades HBCU, con exalumnos, familias y seguidores de las bandas llenando el Hard Rock Stadium. The Covered “Miami Vice” Patio & The Yard

Spacious. Vibrant. Pure Miami. The covered Miami Vice patio seats up to 120 across multiple table configurations and has its own patio bar, with TVs angled for visibility from every seat. The Yard sits adjacent under a giant tent with a projector screen for the major game. Hookah service runs all evening on the patio.

The color palette pulls straight from Miami Vice: pinks, teals, neon accents. The patio walls flow with rotating mural work that fits Wynwood’s art-district vibe.

Yes, you really do drink it from a Jordan-inspired sneaker. The Grails sneaker cocktail is our most-photographed creation, equal parts conversation piece and craft cocktail. It’s been featured in local press, racked up millions of Instagram impressions, and is now a Wynwood rite of passage.

Pair it with shareable dishes from the full menu or post up at the bar with a flight of hyper-local beer. There’s no other drink experience like it in Miami.
